Priscilla (Prisca)

Biography
Priscilla (also called Prisca) was a co-worker of Paul along with her husband Aquila. They were tentmakers who had been expelled from Rome under Claudius and met Paul in Corinth. She and Aquila hosted a church in their home in both Corinth and Rome. When the eloquent Apollos arrived in Ephesus with an incomplete understanding of the gospel, Priscilla and Aquila together took him aside and explained the faith more fully. Notably, Priscilla is named before her husband in four of the six New Testament references to the couple — suggesting her prominence.
Spiritual Lesson
Priscilla and Aquila's ministry of quiet, personal instruction — taking Apollos aside rather than correcting him publicly — is a model of how to develop a gifted but incomplete teacher. Their church in the home and their risk of their lives for Paul (Romans 16:4) show that the most transformative Christian ministry is often personal and relational rather than institutional. Priscilla teaches that deep theological formation happens in homes and friendships, not only pulpits.
